In August 2003, an architectural competition was organized by the Bangalore Agenda Task Force and the Bangalore Mahanagar Palike for the redevelopment of the Central Jail. The Central Jail consisted of a 20 acre plot, in a prime location in the city, on one of the busiest roads of Bangalore and a point on the invisible edge between the pld town and the Cantonment area of Bangalore. The Brief given, was to retain some of the existing buildings and create a park and a public space, iconic of a Bangalore of the new century.
